India-Pakistan finished a well fought T20 series with 1-1 and will now move to ODIs. India will play their 1st ODI of the series against Pakistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai. Weather hasn’t been good from past two day and may wash out the 1st ODI of the series. t has been raining continuously for two days in Chennai. With showers being predicted for the match day and the overnight rain not leaving much for the ground to dry, a complete wash-out may not be ruled out.
For India, Gautam Gambhir seems to be back with scoring runs. He did took some time in the middle but he seems to be good to go. Ajinkya Rahane also proved himself giving India a good start but he didn’t convert them to big. Virender Sehwag will return in the squad which means Rahane will have a fight for his place. Another player fighting for the place will be Rohit Sharma. Sehwag is a explosive batsman and his presence in team does create some pressure on the opponent. Virat Kohli hasn’t yet performed so far against Pakistan but the quality player that he is, India will be expecting substantial contributions from him during the ODIs. Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni completes the middle order. In the bowling department, Ishant Sharma is most likely to lead the attack with Ashok Dinda and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who in all likelihood will make his ODI debut. R Ashwin will definitely will the spinner for team India but will Amit Mishra be included in the squad as well?
For Pakistan, ODI skipper Misbah-ul-Haw will lead the team against India. Mohammad Hafeez has been brilliant so far on the tour and will boost the top order along with Nasir Jamshed and Imran Farhat. It will be interesting to see whether he opens or comes at number three like he did in T20s. Misbah-ul-Haq lead the middle order along with Younis Khan and Azhar Ali. Shoaib Malik after playing terrific knock in the T20s has been retained in the ODI squad. And lastly the Akmal brothers who provide a much solidarity to the Pakistan middle order. Now coming to bowling, Pakistan have a super bowling line-up with Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal the key players. Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan joins the team for the ODI and looking at impressibe performance by 7-feet tall left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan he is being retained for the ODIs as well.
