Australia were still 16 runs behind at stumps on day four of the third Test against India in Mohali, with Phil Hughes battling to a half century as the visitors reached 75 for three to set up an interesting fifth day. Hughes, under pressure after a string of poor scores, played aggressively to end the day on 53, rescuing the knock after Bhuvneshwar Kumar took all three wickets in the evening as the Aussies chased the 91 India left as a target. India had been all out for 499 just after tea, with big centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay the highlights, as well as a nifty half century from Virat Kohli in the afternoon session. Peter Siddle took five wickets in the innings.
Vijay made a valuable 153, holding the knock together after the Aussies managed to get three crucial wickets in the morning session. The first of those was Dhawan, who added two runs to his overnight score before going for 187. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the star of the evening session, with 3 wickets while Hughes has managed to eat out the deficit with some aggressive stroke-play. On last day we have 98 overs and it should be an exciting day. Australia have a long task in front of them as they have to literally play out at least 2 sessions. Without a doubt, India are the favourites to win the game but the game of cricket is one of uncertainties. The visitors still trail by 16 and with Clarke doubtful to come out to bat, it could be a difficult proposition for the Aussies as the track is now aiding the spinners.
