It was evident in the 1st ODI that the Scotland batting wasn’t up to the standard of the Pakistan bowling attack and the home team will hope they can improve and make it a much closer game in the 2nd ODI. It is a good time for Pakistan to prepare for the Champions Trophy and experiment with the XI to make sure it is 100% right for the tournament. Nasir Jamshed has been a Pakistan batsman that is playing very well and in the 1st ODI we saw him a little off his game and hopefully fans can see his attacking style on show in Edinburgh. Kyle Coetzer is the most experienced against top teams in the Scotland team having played quite a bit of County cricket and if Scotland are going to improve they need him to do well at the top of the order.
Nasir Jamshed is not the biggest name in the world cricket but is certainly known after he made a name for himself during the T20 World Cup last year. Jamshed is an aggressive opening batsman but we didn’t see that from him against Scotland in the 1st ODI where he staggered to 20 off 35. He will want to make sure his Champions Trophy spot in the XI is guaranteed with a big contribution in this 2nd and final ODI against a under par bowling attack.
Kyle Coetzer has plenty experience against good bowling attacks since he is playing for County side Northampshire and he needs to step up as their captain and best batsman if they are going to get a good result out of the 2nd ODI against Pakistan. Scotland don’t get many opportunities to play good teams like Pakistan and they need to make the most out of the experience so they can learn more and more.
